Baby Appointment #2

Today was my second baby doctor appointment. It was a pretty fast appointment and one that made me feel a sense of relief. This appointment consisted of a routine urine test, which my sugar and protein levels were good. Then I got weighed: only gained one pound, then did my blood pressure: 130/80 which I guess is good since the nurse said it was. Not really sure how the blood pressure numbers work, LOL. Then my doctor came in...who I love, she is a really great doctor! She went over my blood test and ultrasound from my last appointment. In the blood test I found out I'm O positive...I've never known what my blood type was, so that was cool to find out. All my blood tests came back normal and negative for the different diseases they test for. She also told me the MMR shot I got in middle school is still working because I'm still immune to Rubella. After that we got to listen to our baby's heartbeat...it was so surreal. The baby's heartbeat was beating between 155-161 and the doctor said that was really good. So overall, my blood test, urin test and ultrasound test came with good results and me and the baby are doing great. It was a very relieving appointment for me. My next appointment is March 22nd then 4 weeks after that we'll be able to find out the sex of our baby!

1st Ultrasound Pic

Wednesday was my first baby appt and it went great! Troy and my mom came and they were great supporters. I was a little nervous because I knew I was getting my blood drawn and I am really scared of needles. When we first got there the nurse weighed me and asked some routine questions...then our doctor came in and asked some more questions. This was the first time I've met my doctor and I'm relieved because she is really nice and I feel very comfortable around her. After the questions I changed and she did a pelvic exam and listened to my lungs and did all that routine stuff. Then asked me if I had an H1N1 shot...I told her no and she recommended I get one. At first I was hesitant becuase I hate needles...but Troy and my mom convinced me to get it. I changed back into my normal clothes and the nurse came in and gave me the shot. I made my mom hold my hand, LOL, and to my surprise I didn't even feel the needle go in! I was shocked. Then I had to go get my blood drawn...still nervous, I had my mom hold my hand again and I did feel the needle but it wasn't as bad as I thought. As long as I didn't look at any of the needles I was ok. Unfortunately they didn't schedule my ultrasound so I had to go in the next day for that.
So yesterday was my ultrasound and the baby is measuring right at 9 weeks and the heartbeat is at 180...the nurse said that was really good. The baby is healthy and good! That is always a relief. So all in all my first baby appt was a good one!!! Troy and I loved the experience of seeing our baby and hearing it's heartbeat for the first time together. We can't wait for these 9 months to go by so we can meet our baby!

Baby Appointment #1

I got a call today from the medical referal company and they set me up with my new OBGYN at the Riverton Hospital. Her name is Dr. Twelves...cool name huh?? My supervior's friend had her and she said that she is a really good doctor...so I'm defintely releived. I'm excited for my first appointment and to meet my new doctor. My first baby appointment will be Monday January 25th...Troy and I are so excited! By that time I will be one day shy of 9 weeks pregnant and we should be able to hear the baby's heartbeat. We are very excited about that and hope everything runs smoothly with the first appointment!

Who's having a baby???

We are!!!!!!!!!!! I'm pregnant!!!!!!!!!! I found out two days ago...at work funnily enough. My supervisor at work found out she was pregnant about a week ago and so two days ago I was talking with her and my other friend and asked if she felt crampy and her boobs were kinda sore, because that's what I was feeling. She said yes and convinced me to go buy a test on my lunch and take it...also I was about a week late. So I went to Wal-Mart on my lunch and bought a three pack of pregnancy tests and went in my bathroom at work and took a test. I know it sounds funny taking one at work, but I couldn't help it. It would have killed me to wait all day and take it at home. My supervisor came in and said "So what does it say???" I said "It says it's positive!!!" I couldn't even believe it, I was in shock. I took a second one just to be sure! Troy and I haven't been preventing for over a year but haven't really been trying. We kinda just wanted it to happen when it's supposed to happen...and it's supposed to happen now! I immediately called Troy and told him...he was and still is ecstatic!
I went and saw my family doctor today and did another urine test...just to be sure ;) And again, came up positive...I am currently 5 weeks along and I'm due August 31st. I will be delivering at the new Riverton hospital. My family doc is not an OBGYN so she put in a referral and I should be getting a call in the next couple weeks with who my OBGYN will be and set up my first appt. My doc said all the OBGYN's are really good there, so I'm not worried in the least about not having a good doctor. Troy went and bought me the What To Expect When You're Expecting book today and I'm so excited to start reading it. I'm excited to experience all the things with being pregnant...good and bad. Troy is already such a great dad to his two kids and I can't wait to experience raising a child with him. He is my everything and I love him so much!
Troy and I are so excited and can't wait to have our baby here in 9 months!!!!
